An all-powerful Creator (John 1:3)

“All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.”

The Word who already was God back in the beginning, the Word who was with God, the Word who was God, is the all-powerful, Creator God. John has not yet identified him other than the title of God, but he is both eternal God and the creator of everything.

This Word, he is both with God and is God. Oh how this anticipates the plurality of God. And as God, he is sovereign over all things because he made all things, including us! And if he is God and if he is sovereign and if he is our Creator, then he is Lord of us. He is Lord of our time, our energy, and our resources.

The final stanza of the great hymn says it best:

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.
